Taivalkoski resides in the upper part of Koillismaa, in the middle of four National Parks. Most of the Syöte National Parks are in Taivalkoski, like it’s highest point Pyhitystunturi. Iijoki flowing through the parish paints Taivalkoski’s landscapes majestic. Our open landscapes are rich in nature’s bounty and tranquility, while the Kylmäluoma hiking area has plenty of trails to explore.

Exercise diversely in wonderful conditions
Taivalkoski offers great opportunities for all kinds of hobbies. At Taivalvaara you’ll find a ski resort, a disc golf course, climbing opportunities, and a fitness and adventure park for the whole family. The municipality’s leisure department rents equipment for hobbies, like snowshoes, sliding shoes, canoes, kayaks, SUP boards, a rubber boat, skateboards, and gear for various ball games. Most of the equipment is free for people under 18 years old. Taivalkoski also has an unique canoeing center. You can get to know it and try it out, but it also offers opportunities for more experienced people.
